"Nurses made me feel comfortable"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Received a letter about an abnormal smear test and got appointment for a colposcopy exam. Went to my appointment only to find out that the letter failed to inform me that it was severe and that I was going straight for the LLETZ treatment. I found this as a shock and got very nervous as thought I was just going for a check. The doctor I saw was surprised I was not told before hand but the doctor and the nurses on duty with them made me feel very comfortable and continued talking to me throughout the whole thing taking my mind off what was happening. I was a bit shaky afterwards and they brought me some water and did not rush me out, they let me take my time to calm down a bit and sip my drink all in all I thought it was very good care while I was there. (They were also understanding about the fact I was slightly late because of parking issues)

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the experience you had at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary recently. We are pleased that our staff were caring and supportive during your time with us but are sorry that your initial letter did not give you the full information to be able to prepare fully for your appointment. If you would like to discuss this further with us, we would be happy to. You can contact us via our Patient Relations team on 01539 716621. Thank you again.
