"Nightmare in Ward 8"

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

I am extremely upset, stress and depress of the way the nursing staff in Ward 8 HPB Hepatobiliary had acted upon my after surgery care. Almost all the nursing staff on this Ward are agitated, perturbed, distressed, unsettled and anxious. In this regards is it possible that you can close this Ward for good! But in fairness to the hospital specialist doctors are all highly qualified and excellent in their job!

Thank you for your feedback posted on the NHS Choices/Patient Opinion Website. We were very sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would expect when you were a patient on Ward 8 at Manchester Royal Infirmary. It is very important to us that comments from patients are noted and used and as an opportunity to ensure that the service makes changes and improvements are made.

In response to your comments, I would like to reassure you that we will discuss your experience with the staff on the ward and at our Surgical Senior Nurses Meeting to explore opportunities for improving working conditions on the ward and ensuring that we have the appropriate support in place to support the nurses working on the ward. It is important to us that our staff do not experience the feelings that you have outlined in your posting and that they are fully supported in their work.

It is difficult to be able to respond to the specific concerns that you have raised and provide you with any additional information. We take all issues surrounding patient care and experience very seriously and would very much like to hear from you directly about your experience. If you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk they will be able to discuss this with you.
