"Wonderfully caring staff"

About: Good Hope Hospital

I recently attended ward two in Fothergill block for a suspected miscarriage fully expecting to have a scan and be sent home with confirmation of miscarriage. After some blood monitoring and three scans and the opinion of three doctors it was determined that I had a pregnancy of unknown location (ectopic) and the best bet was to undergo laparoscopy to determine location and removal.

From the first moment to the moment I left ward today my care was fantastic. The staff clearly wanted the very best for me and I was treated with dignity and empathy during quite a traumatic time. Busy as the staff are everyone had time to talk and explain everything, to discuss my feelings, provide pain relief - even peppermint tea for the wind after the procedure to remove one fallopian tube.

They made a difficult few days much easier to bear. Wonderful ward.

Dear Anonymous

May I firstly offer my sincere condolences for your recent loss, I'm sure it was a very traumatic time for you. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your comments about your experience at such a difficult time.

I'm so pleased to read that you felt you were treated with empathy and dignity throughout your stay and that the ward staff, regardless of how busy they were, took the time to explain everything clearly, talk to you when you needed to and provide emotional support.

I will ensure that your comments are forwarded to Louise Wilson, Senior Sister on Ward 2 and Tracy Nash, Matron for Gynaecology, so that it can be communicated to all of the team on Ward 2 and in the speciality.

I do hope this is acceptable and once again, thank you for providing feedback of your patient experience, it is very important to us.

With kindest regards

Marie Helebert
