"Podiatry Department"

About: Clacton Hospital

I have just come across the two reviews on this site for the Podiatry Department which I have been attending regularly for about the last five years as I am an insulin dependent diabetic. I have found one particular receptionist unhelpful when trying to book my follow up appointments. I was an NHS manager for nearly forty years and I had to speak to the head of the Podiatry Department last year about the difficulties with the receptionist and told them that I would write a letter to the Chief Executive if the difficulties persisted. There has been a very small improvement but the underlying problem still persists. If the Podiatrist tells you to come back within a certain timescale I fail to understand why one cannot make an appointment at the time one is in the Department instead of having to phone up and be told they are fully booked and the time scale between appointments increases. Future appointments can be made because on a couple of occasions the Podiatrist treating me has made them at the time. In my opinion the receptionist seems to have too much autonomy needs to be spoken to about the obstacles they put in the way when patients phone up for their appointments.
