I recently attended the vascular clinic at the RLI and saw a locum consultant . I asked the consultant their name twice and it was difficult establishing their name, the consultant was rude, abrupt and made it
clear from the start that they were only prepared to give me the results of a test I'd had and that the consultant could not tell me what my treatment options would be. The consultant said I would need to see the Consultant I'd seen originally to discuss treatment options. The consultant gave only very brief information regarding the test results and even then their terminology was laughable, - they informed me that I had a "pipe" in my body which was blocked - I thought I'd come to see a medical consultant not a plumber. This appointment was clearly a waste of my time and NHS resources as this information could have been sent to the GP and I could have spoken to my GP on the phone. As it was I've had to trail all the way to Lancaster, getting through the traffic, parking only to be told I will need to return again to see the original Consultant. This appointment could have been used for someone who really needed it. This was only half an appointment, I've been told I have a problem but not how it can be rectified. I was very unhappy with the manner and attitude of this Consultant it was like they just couldn't be bothered, no bedside manner. My dogs are treated better at the vets.
