"I was on cardio wards for five ..."

About: Southampton General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was on cardio wards for five weeks following major surgery. I was warm , the nurses were caring and efficient, particularly on E 4. and despite being in hospital there was a nice atmosphere.

What could be improved

The food. Despite the new menu the food was bland and you never knew when it was going to arrive. Mealtimes should be bright spots in the day.

Anything else?

Marvelous surgical teams

Hello Roderick. Thanks for your comments, which we've brought to the attention of the cardiovascular and thoracic department.

We're sorry to hear you were disappointed in the food. At the time of your stay we had started a roll-out of a new catering service. As with any major change of service, there have been teething problems and, unfortunately, in the early stages, some delays were experienced. However, these issues are being resolved through close cooperation with our ward staff and the catering contractor.
