Firstly question 1 of this review (which is same as text I received post op) does not seem relevant as I and very likely others are given no choice of place of treatment.
Whist I am very happy with my treatment I am not impressed with the pre and post op documents.
At pre assessment
I was given an instruction to attend the Sunderland Day Centre at 07.30 and advised no drink after 03.00. I then received a letter which contradicted this with a 6.30 drink cut off time and attendance at 07.00 at the POCU which I assumed must be in the Sunderland area. Having waited 30mins for the Day Centre reception to open I was told I should not have been sent there and directed to the POCU where staff were looking for me. This is clearly a problem that needs improving.
I was also surprised not to be given any written advise on discharge regarding my recovery. Fortunately my partner works in Physiotherapy and could offer advise otherwise I would have been very uncertain about my limitations. Verbal information is easy to forget after anaesthetic.
My treatment throughout my stay was however first class and all staff that I encountered were highly professional and considerate. Many Thanks.
