"Appendicitus"

About: St Richard's Hospital

I just wanted to write a short note to say thanks to all the team who looked after me when I came in on Sunday 17th Jan. From the time I arrived at A&E the smiling staff at reception made me feel welcome and at ease.

After an expected wait in A & E I was seen by a member of staff in Majors and then referred to a member of staff from the surgical team. They were brilliant, their attitude and manor are a credit to your service.

I was then taken to Wittering ward where the HCA's and nurses were brilliant especially one in particular who looked after me through the nights (nicest nurse ever).

Under the care of the Consultants team and the most friendly and professional 1st class anethatist I was soon sorted and back home to recover.

The NHS gets so much bad press that I wanted to show this is not always the case. 1st class care and service. Thank you so much.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write on this site.

Having appendicitis must have been very unpleasant, and it is brilliant to hear how the staff both in A and E and on Wittering made you feel so well cared for.

We have a policy known as 'Patient First' which focuses staff on remembering the personal touches that you mention, as these are the things that people remember when they are in hospital, and which make what is usually a horrible experience being ill, into one which is manageable and positive.

We shall make sure that staff in both of these areas are made aware of the difference they made.
