"Costs always come before Health"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Arrowe Park Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

I just had to comment on the state of Arrowe Park Hospital. My Dad was rushed into hospital via ambulance with a serious bug the week leading to Christmas. Due to his frail age and conditions he was rushed straight into a bed. But the corridors in Accident & Emergency and in the majors dept was full of people in beds because there was no where to put them. You litery had to climb over them to get to my fathers bedside. All the wards were also full. They kept my dad in overnight and the following day we had a telephone call from the ward he was on to say my dad was ready to go home with some antibiotics, they said he only has a mild cold, and can you come as soon as possible as we need the bed. We picked him up and took him home and looked after him. Within a week we had to rush him back in as his tempeture was through the roof and he was close to go into a coma.

We found out by the medical staff that he should have been kept in the first time as he did not have a mild cold, but very serious Pneumonia, with the lungs blocked due to it. Now he has been kept in and being observed. He was also given the wrong antibiotics the first time. Again when he was taken in, the corridors were even worse and in the end they had to shut A&E.

They have a perfectly good hospital down the road Clatterbridge Hospital which at one time had everything including many wards (known as the huts) All that disappeared, now just waste land.

It seems money always comes first in the NHS before health and lives. I know from personal experience. As for the parking £2 a go works out £20 per week for us, where does this go? Why not spend some on Clatterbridge to get the wards back. Arrowe Park Hospital was never designed to cope with all of it. PUT LIVES 1ST BEFORE COST…. Then you have the free Disabled parking by the main entrance half of the cars don’t have blue badges displayed and in the evenings and weekend you find that staff park there. You tell security nothing seems to happen.
