"Excellent treatment and care"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

I was admitted to QMC for a surgical procedure to remove a spinal tumour in January 2016.

The whole process of treatment and care can only be described as outstanding from start to finish. Any questions and fears I may have had were answered in the pre-admission process, where the whole staff team were supportive and reassuring. They explained exactly what would happen, but also provided detailed information when answering my questions.

On admission, everything ran smoothly, no waiting about - even though we were delayed by horrendous traffic problems travelling from Lincoln. Once again I found the staff to be efficient whilst being friendly and personable.

On entry to theatre, I was spoken to by the neurosurgeon and the anaesthetist, both of whom I hold in the highest regard. Thoroughly professional and excellent, they both put me at ease.

After surgery, I was taken to the Neuro & Spinal Post Operative Unit to recover. Again, I cannot speak highly enough of the superb staff team on this ward. Everyone worked together to support the patients in their care. The ward was kept spotlessly clean, and the attention provided to patients was remarkable. During my time on the ward I was visited by the neurosurgeon on many occasions, and by the neurology doctors, but also by the anaesthetist. I was involved with all discussions regarding treatment and rehabilitation, no one spoke over me or ignored my questions.

My recovery from this operation was certainly accelerated by the care, encouragement and support of the whole team on NSPU. I cannot thank them enough.

Great news. I’ll pass your words of thanks on to the team involved in your care. I’m very proud of them all. I hope you are recovering well after your recent stay with us.
