About: The James Cook University Hospital

I attended the trauma outpatients clinic a few months ago.

I first saw trainees and then the consultant.

I found them all to be very dismissive. I had brought a letter from my physio detailing my symptoms and range of movement and how it was affected which they just ignored.

I explained I am an elite athlete who competes at an international level.

I was given what felt like a random diagnosis that didn't fit with my symptoms and where the pain was.

The consultant didn't even take x-rays and suggested an ultra sound guided injection as a course of action.

I emailed the consultant the following week with some questions and received an email a few weeks later (after I had emailed again) stating they were very busy and would get back to me the following week.

I never heard back.

As I wasn't confident with the method of diagnosis and the diagnosis itself, I saw another consultant at another hospital for a second opinion.

This one took x-rays and immediately the problem was evident and was no where near as simple as I was told at James Cook hospital.

As an elite athlete, there is no way I would trust my care with this hospital.

They could have completly destroyed my sporting career!
