I visited A & E on Saturday morning and was there for 5 1/2 hours although they were very busy. Sent to Ambulatory department and had great treatment. Had a chest x ray before leaving to come back on Monday. Saw a doctor on Monday morning, had a scan and returned on Tuesday to PIU department. Had excellent service, had blood taken and saw the haematology doctor who performed a bone marrow procedure.

I was kept informed every step of they way. Returned on Friday morning for more blood tests. Spoke to the haematology specialist nurse who gave me lots of information. Saw doctor again who confirmed the diagnosis of CML and was given a prescription to start treatment. Will return on a weekly basis to clinic for time being to make sure the medication is doing its job.

I cant believe that I have been diagnosed in less than one week . The staff were great, very professional and very caring. I feel very confident in what they are doing for me and although this has all been a bit of a shock as I felt generally healthy before I feel I have got things under control and have every confidence in the service I have received from Tameside Hospital.
