I was referred to Rheumatology at derriford for an opinion on my symptoms by my GP. I saw a lovely registrar who ordered tests and I was expecting a follow up appointment. Firstly I had an MRI of the wrong area and then after patiently waiting 15 months for a follow up appointment I rang to be told my notes had been reviewed and I had been discharged! I feel as if I have not been taken seriously and having not had the tests which I was told I needed I was incredibly disappointed to find I had been discharged without even being told (apparently a letter was sent to me in March which I never received). I feel at least I deserved a telephone follow up to discuss how my symptoms were
and to rectify the error of the incorrect MRI.
I have lost complete faith in this department and it appears they are more interested in their figures than patient care. I feel I have no choice but to see someone privately as I do not wish to be fobbed off again and made to feel the way I have. As a medical professional myself I hope other people receive better care than I have.
"Highly disappointed in rheumatology department"
