"Eye Centre"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

I've had two appointments recently at the Eye Centre, both were carried out extremely quickly and by friendly staff. On both occasions I was seen and left the department before my actual appointment times !! (an exceptional thing given I'm used to waiting when it comes to appointments)

My one gripe would be that for the first appointment I had to have dilating eye drops and was not in a fit state to drive home straight away and had to spend some time at the hospital - this wasn't explained in the letter regarding my appointment, so it was a bit of a spanner in the works for my day. My one recommendation then would be to inform people what their appt will involve, so that in an event like this they can arrange for someone else to come with them or at least be prepared to wait.

Thanks for your comments.

Really pleased to read that your appointments went well and that you were seen in a timely manner. I've passed your post on to the eye centre team so they can pick up on your note about the dilating eye drops.

You're absolutely right that this should be made clear to patients so they can make other travel arrangements. It's a point well made and I'm sure they'll act on the information for future patients.

Best wishes Sarah Turner-Saint, head of communications
