"My experience in WRI"

About: Worcester Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

My GP sent me to WRI for investigation into pains in right side of chest and back, mid January 2016.

I first saw a miss/mrs Cleaver, Surgical Nurse who examined me with young trainee Drs, This was all done with compassion and care.. Transferred to Chestnut ward.

I was seen by various Drs and nurses.

My room was a 4 bedded room 3 older patients', one with dementia, I must add we were all treated exceptionally well, Ward was cleaned daily by polite friendly diligent lady.

My compliments and reason for sending this email are to highlight all good points that I observed from my bed. A patient had dementia, bed bound, had been in for some time. Treatment that they received was first class, Fluids were given often, staff sat and fed all meals, the patient was changed and pressure areas treated regularly. This was all done with tender jovial care talking to the patient throughout, Yes the patient was a little aggressive but never once were they treated without love respect and a lot of compassion.

So many criticise NHS. I had to take this opportunity to contradict and give my opinions.

Well done to all staff on that unit.

My only criticism was how cold the ward was with inadequate bed clothes, sheets and cotton cover was on my bed as were the others, when I asked for a blanket the coldest night of winter I was given another cotton cover doubled, no warmth only weight. Yes I acknowledge hygiene & laundry issues but do feel this needs to be looked into.

My personal care was superb.
