"Pain during colonoscopy"

About: Alexandra Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was referred by my go for a colonoscopy procedure. I did the preparation required and was confidant that all would be well.

I was given some pain killer and sedation and although I was expecting a little discomfort, I was not expecting the excruciating pain as if someone was ripping my guts out. If you have have ever watched a nature program where an animal hunts its prey and starts ripping and eating its catch while the catch is still alive. Well that's how I would describe my experience of an attempt at a colonoscopy procedure which had to be abandon because I could not tolerate it.

I felt like I must be the only one who found it painful but now I know others have had problems I don't feel such a fool. So thanks for sharing your experiences it's really valued.
