"My birth experience"

I first went into hospital at about 10am, I was only 2cm dialated and was sent home with a tens machine. I went back in at 2. 30pm when I was 4cm and in agony as it was a back to back labour. I stayed in and had some diamorphine, and soon after having it relaxed until the contractions became stronger and more painful when I went onto the labour suite and had an epidural. I was 6cm for the rest of the day, became feverish and kept throwing up. I had 2 anti sickness injections. When they broke my waters around midnight they saw my baby had pooed inside me but still left me for ages...my midwife was lovely and was only taking orders from the doctor above her. I was fully dialated at 3am but made to wait over 3 hours to push and pushed for over an hour with no progress.

My baby was facing the wrong way so had to go into theatre and have a forcep delivery. She was born around 8. 30am and was struggling to breathe. We both had an infection. She had to go off in an incubator and I only saw her for a split second.

I went onto the recovery ward and then moved onto a post natal ward. 5 hours later I got to see my baby properly on the high dependency unit, the staff in there were not very nice. Wasn't allowed any skin on skin or she would get 'too cold'.

She was moved after 3 days into the nursery, staff were much nicer but annoyed me when they kept tube feeding her when she made progress with the bottle. They only let me try for 20 minutes then finished feeding her through a tube which upset me. She was in there for 5 days overall. I enjoyed my experience with the midwives, but not with the nurses in special care.
