"Person-centred care"

After falling ill at the weekend my father, who has several health problems, was admitted to hospital. He got back to himself quite quickly but the medics were keen for him to stay in for a few days for observation and tests. During the week he was in, he had an out-patient appointment at the skin clinic for a biopsy. Rather than having to rearrange the appointment for the following month, the hospital took him down from the ward to his biopsy appointment. This meant my mother, his main carer and his taxi service, was spared yet another trip to the hospital. This is person-centred care in action. Well done Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley.
