"Operation to repair Quadriceps and muscle around the left knee"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

After a walk at a local beauty spot, I negotiated a stile at the end of the footpath, and as I stepped off the stile onto a sloping grassy bank which was wet, and bearing in mind the amount of rain we have had recently, my leg slipped on the slope which was like walking on ice, and my full weight landed on my left leg awkwardly, I initially thought I had broken my leg and called for an ambulance which took me to West Cornwall Hospital Penzance. After an X-Ray, it showed I did not break a leg but showed 2 torn tendons across the knee. My follow up appointment at the fracture clinic at Treliske confirmed this, and I had an operation a few days later.
