"Serenity Birth centre - very disappointed"

About: City Hospital / Maternity care

(as a parent/guardian),

Last week I called to notify my wife has contractions

to this number 0121 507 5655.

10-minute conversation answering silly questions.

we arrived to serenity Birth centre at 5: 25am after 40 minutes, We entered to ruby room.

At 7: 15 am to 7: 45am approximately a midwife check my wife.

She says, my wife has only 3 centimeters dilated

So better we can go home and come back later.

I refuse completely Because I have two children aged 10 and 8 years old with whom I also attended childbirth and he was 100% sure my daughter would be born that morning because my wife expands very fast.

She says she agreed. but only return to check the status of my wife, every 4 hours.

After 45 minutes at 8: 30am I spoken with 6 members of the staff in the office room to explain my wife is in full contraction and pain, someone asking to me with laughing .... already he born? They all laughed.

It took 11 minutes to go to see my wife. 8: 41am

I also told them please you had to go filling the pool

to have the baby in water at 7: 30am 8: 00am and 8: 41

I was told is too soon to fill the pool.

only they began to put water in the pool at 8: 55am

After 19 minutes my baby girl born Unable to have her in the pool because the water had not yet reached the minimum acceptable level and recommended by the manufacturer.

I want to make clear

The midwife and the student who has attended my wife in childbirth. They are great and my wife and I greatly thank you for your professionalism and work.

We have felt very comfortable with you.

Thank you so much

I am sorry to hear that you and your wife did not receive our usual high standards of care and that you couldn't use the birthing pool. I understand how disappointing this must have been. I am pleased that you were happy with the care from the midwives during the birth of your new baby. I will pass your comments to the team at Serenity. I wish you and your family well. Toby Lewis, Chief Executive.
