"Surely prescriptions could be forwarded to a local pharmacy"

About: University Hospital Monklands

(as the patient),

After being discharge from an overnight stay at Monk lands I required a prescription which I could either wait for several hours or return the same day after 5pm surely these prescriptions could be forwarded to a local pharmacy?

Dear Tommy miller

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience at Monklands Hospital and I'm sorry to learn that your delays in your discharge prescription caused you distress.

I have discussed your concerns with the pharmacy manager who advised me a supply of discharge prescriptions is normally made by the hospital pharmacy to ensure you have all the medicines you need to continue your treatment before you leave the hospital. Unfortunately the current I.T. infrastructure does not allow for discharge prescriptions to be transmitted to local pharmacists.

Please be assured we consider all patient feedback when reviewing service provision and we are currently looking at the process for the provision of medicines to patients going home to minimise any waiting time and will take you comments on board in this process.

Kind regards

Ruth
