"Nothing."

About: Chorley & South Ribble Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nothing.

What could be improved

Nurse/patient/consultant communication. The way they treat patients, having qualified experienced consultants working alongside training doctors in the A & E instead of sitting at home on the telephone.

Anything else?

My partner was admitted to A & E on a sunday night with an Irregular heartbeat, he was shoved into a side room , put onto a heart monitor and left. Because his heartbeat kept dropping below 50 bpm the alarms kept going off, the nurses came in and kept turning them off, in the end I was asked to keep hitting the cancel button!!! He was then seen by a "doctor" that had to keep ringing another doctor for advice on treatment. We were then told that they where going to try a treatment then came back and changed their mind. Then my partner was moved to the MAU and treated like a prisioner. We could not see him, he wasnt allowed to make a phonecall, he was not kept informed about what was going on. The secretaries on the ward were RUDE. He was told they would be bringing his cardiac appoitment forward urgently and discharged him, 24 hrs after his 1st admission. 4 weeks on he still hadn't recieved an appointment, on contacting the cardiac secretaries they told him they hadn't had his a & e notes and would ring him back, they didnt. He contacted them again a week later and they still hadn't had the notes. In the mean time he is still not a well man, he is only in his early 40's with a history of men in his family dieing suddently from irregular heartbeats, his notes haven't arrived form A & E to the Cardiac dept, and its been nearly 6 weeks now. So much for bringing an urgent appointment forward, I am thoroughly disgusted with Chorley Hospital and will be making an offical complaint.
