"Did not get seen at Hemel urgent care"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital

Arrived at Herts urgent care as Watford was closed. Explained to the receptionist my mothers symptom just to make sure she could be seen there. The receptionist confirmed with a medical staff member that she could be seen at Hemel. Sat there waiting for 21/2 hours wondering why other people coming in through the same route IE not with an appointment, were seen before us. The receptionist explained that they were taking more serious cases in first. We suspected my mother of 88 had a DVT showing all the classic signs. However a lad with a puffy eye coming in after us and a lad with a sprained ankle were both seen before us even though they did not have an appointment. After nearly 3 hours and my mum by this time shivering with the cold,we had to leave without being seen. We appreciate that your resources are limited however, I would have thought she should have been to triage as routine but was not. Others were being seen in triage for, in my opinion, less urgent cases which came to light having spoken to the other patients while waiting. It would also be useful if someone could update waiting patients as to waiting times and reassurance that they have not been forgotten which appeared to be the case with my mum.
