My boyfriend was admitted on and off since about October as he has Crohns Disease and recently had an op to remove some intestine, he has since had a complication and returned to ward 42, since visiting him everyday i am fuming at the cleanliness and the food they give their patients. He was in hospital on NYE where his dinner was a cheese sandwich on white bread, they brought him out a cheese sandwich on brown bread which he cant eat due to having a stoma bag, they then told him they didnt have anything else, he ended up with a ham sandwich after about 40mins, im not being funny but since when is a plain sandwich a dinner? He is also seeing a dietician now as he has lost a lot of weight since being admitted...i dont know why they are suprised with the food he gets offered. Today he asked for a cheese sandwich and soup as everything else on the menu he either cant eat or doesnt like the food, they then came with no sandwich and said they only have tuna sandwiches (he is allergic to any seafood) so hes just had soup tonight, these people are sick and should be eating good nutritious foods no wonder he is still in there and not getting better. Not to mention how filthy the place is, the cleaners are so bad, the only good thing about it was the nurses on the ward who were very friendly and especially one which i dont know thgeir name but they were really nice.
I am so angry at this food issue though, its ridiculous. There are many other things that have happened but they were on a different ward, such as a nurse trying to give him the wrong medication because there was someone else with the same last name as him and apparently this was confusing to them, luckily he knows the meds he needs and knew this wasnt meant for him...when they ask patients security questions before treating them and still get it wrong there is something seriously wrong!!
