"The great care and compassion of NHS staff at Ninewells"

Two years ago I was a patient in Ward 26 at Ninewells Hospital. There was an old man in the bed next to me who was in a bad way. He was a large man, very disorientated, and he had a metal cage over his head. He kept trying to get out of bed. All during the night two nurses attended to him, reassuring him, giving him water and medicine, taking him to the toilet, making sure he did not get up and fall. This went on all night. Their care and compassion reduced me to tears. In the morning, both nurses were still very cheerful.
You never hear about dedication and compassion like this on the news: there are only bad news stories about the NHS when there are problems. Recently I was operated on by Dr Syrogiannis at Ninewells, ably assisted buy a young surgeon from Malta, and a theatre nurse. I had had an argument with a squeegee in the shower and the squeegee won. I urgently needed stitches in my eyeball. Again, I was filled with gratitude, and admiration for the dedication, skill, modesty, and sheer brilliance of the treatment I received. We need to celebrate our NHS more or we will lose it. I would love to see the media (or a film) praising the miracle that is our NHS.
