"No help with Tooth Extraction"

As a teenage woman, I have always had good oral health and brush my teeth two, sometimes three times a day. However, I play a lot of sport, especially rugby, which has resulted in the loss of two of my molar teeth, one from either side of my mouth.

The difficult thing is, even though the tooth has completely gone, the root of each tooth is still implanted in my gum causing me extreme dental pain, heavy bleeding when brushing, dental abscesses and some cases of facial swelling. Most of the pain is from eating, because molar teeth are used for chewing, which is causing food to be stuck in the root of my tooth which can be extremely uncomfortable. Sometimes the pain can be next to none, and on other occasions the pain can be so severe, I am almost in tears and dosing up on ibuprofen to keep the pain away, although the tablets don't always work.

Last week, I woke up with the worst tooth pain imaginable. My face was swollen on one side, there was heavy bleeding, and I couldn't help but break down crying because of the amount of pain I was in. It honestly felt as though I'd been stabbed multiple times in my face.

I attended the Royal Gwent the same day, still in my Pajamas because I couldn't face to be in pain for any longer. I checked in to the A+E department, and sat patiently, with several tissues full of blood that was pouring from gum. After a long and painful 5 hour wait, feeling like a vampire with an excessive amount of blood pouring out of my mouth, I was finally seen by a nurse (although she didn't seem to like anyone, or her job - I mean a smile wouldn't go a miss). She checked my blood pressure and temperature, and although she could clearly see the trauma I was in, with handfuls of blood covered tissue and a swollen face, she handed me a little piece of paper with a number on it, for the "emergency dentist". I had already spoken to this dentist, and they had advised me to come to A&E! very disappointing. As for now, they still have not been taken out and no-one in the health sector is willing to help me. Thanks NHS.
