"Wrist Op Day Case"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I just want to say a big thank you to all the staff that cared for me when I came in to have my wrist operated on- Dec 29th 15. I wish I could remember all your names and thank you personally. I do remember one particular member of staff who was fantastic- answered all my questions when it came to being discharged and was very patient and professional. Also there was a student who was friendly and kind- just what one needs when faced with something a little unnerving.

Preston hospital should be proud of their staff in the Day Case section.

The anaesthetist was awesome! Definitely a person in the right job- professional but funny.

(The staff on the reception desk need a personality transplant- glad they were not actually involved in my care. Utterly miserable. They should take lessons from the reception people on X-ray- they were delightful)

Response from Rhona Hartley, Head of Patient Experience and Customer Care, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and to tell us of your experience. Whilst it is extremely pleasing to hear of the high standard of care you received, we were sorry to read that your overall very positive experience was, to some extent marred by the attitude of the reception staff in the Day Unit.

We have undertaken a significant amount of work with staff over the past 12 months to enhance communication and were disappointed to hear that the attitude and standard of communication you received did not reflect that or our expectations. Please be assured that your comments have been shared with managers in the departments concerned to reflect back to their staff.
