"great staff, nightmare parking"

About: Leighton Hospital

The staff at Leighton are great.

Parking on the other hand is horrendous !

Today it took over half a hour to find a parking space, after trawling the different car parking areas several times.

Luckily I started out very early and just managed to get to my appointment on time, albeit very stressed and anxious. Why have lots of small car parks when a multi storey would be a much better idea?

As there is a huge revenue from car parks it would pay for itself in no time at all........it's all in the forward planning..

I am sorry that you found it difficult to locate a space to park your vehicle.

During our peak periods of clinical activity, the availability of patient and visitor car parking spaces is undoubtedly reduced. However, on an operational level, a number of initiatives have been introduced to support our patients and visitors in locating a safe place to park onsite. These initiatives include the following:

• Re-scheduling of security rota’s to maximise availability of officers during peak periods of activity

• Employing a car park control service to support members of the public when attempting to park

• Monitored barrier intercom support and CCTV systems

• Utilisation of employee car parking for patient and visitor usage during periods of overflow

• Increased level of car parking communications including Internet postings and letters relating to car parking services sent with each appointment letter

We are looking at a number of additional projects to improve the operational running of our car parking facilities, some of which include the use of social media in relation to live parking updates and producing helpful videos which can be uploaded onto the Trust website giving information on parking and using the parking payment machines.

In addition to the operational aspects, the Trust has also produced a car park strategy and travel plan. The purpose of these documents are to provide an account of how the Trust is going to manage car parking over the next 4 years, the travel options available to our site users, the Trust’s commitment to greener forms of travel and the Trust’s projections in terms of patient activity vs the need for additional space moving forward. These documents form part of the future development plans for the site.

For future visits, please feel free to use the car park barrier intercom system for assistance with locating a safe place to park.
