"After being treated by these two, I did not mind the time taken."

About: St John's Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I have been to the A&E at St John's Livingston a number of times. However, todays visit must be commented on.

I arrived and checked in at approx. 09: 50am in January 16. I managed to get de-icer in my right eye. The woman on the desk who checked me in was lovely, quick, and efficient which is always helpful and calming. I was seen by a nurse who took details and gave me a room in the back (Waiting room 6 - seems to be my usual room). I was then seen by one nurse who MUST be recognised for her fantastic attitude and help. I cannot remember her name, she had recently moved from the burn unit to the A&E department for 3 months. She had a 12 hour shift today starting from 8: 30am. (She has long dark brown hair, brown eyes and is quite young). She couldn't have been more helpful and calming. She had to perform her first ever eye irrigation on me without any help, and although it was my first as well, it went very smoothly.

I was worried of course, but she kept me calm, and made me feel relaxed and cared for. After the treatment and tests etc. were complete and after I was seen by the doctor (Paul - who was also absolutely fantastic! ) she even wished me well and luck.

The doctor, Paul, was brilliant as well. He also couldn't have been more pleasant and calming. Could you please pass on my gratitude and comments onto their seniors or whoever? I really cannot express my sincere thanks to both of them for their help today. I arrived in tears and left with a smile (and tears, but of joy that my eye and eyesight were ok)

The ONLY thing I would comment on improving would be the waiting time - but I completely understand that it cannot always be helped. I left at approx. 11: 45am. But after being treated by these two, I did not mind the time taken.

Dear SoapyBubbles

Thank you for sharing your recent experiences following your visit to A&E at St John's. It was lovely to read such positive feedback and l have passed this onto the team at the hospital, who l am sure will be delighted to read your posting and in particular how they made you feel and that you even left with a smile.

Thank you again for your kind words and I hope your eye gets better soon.

Kind regards

Jeannette Morrison
