"My labour and birth experience"

On the 14th of November 2015, I went into labour with my little girl. I ended up doing most of my labour in hospital at the L. G. I because baby's movements had decreased. I was told I would have my waters broken to bring my labour on faster, this was at 8. 45 in the morning, 11. 40 at night and I was still waiting, as the delivery suite was full, so I was told. My waters went themselves after a heavy bleed at about 11. 50, the midwives were not concerned and I still had to wait nearly 2 hours to be moved up to the delivery suite.

During labour I was shouted at by the midwife who was telling me to push, despite me begging for an epidural and saying the baby wasn't budging, I was refused an epidural and was told that I did'nt need one and that i was doing really well. 

After having an episiotomy and forceps I lost 4 litres of blood. It was not until 2 days later that they discovered I needed 2 blood transfusions, and that was only because I kept passing out. If it wasn't for one amazing midwife I wouldn't have had one. She took so much time to look after me, she helped me breastfeed my little girl, made sure I got a bath, showed me how to bath my baby girl, made me eat even though I didn't want to. After how horrible the birth was and how awful i feel some of the midwives were, she restored my faith in people. I will forever be grateful to her for how much she cared and despite being busy, she never made me feel like a nuscience.

I didn't have a nice experience with the labour ward, and was left feeling very upset with the treatment. I realise how busy the nhs is and they do great things, but if everyone could just put that bit of personal effort in, it would make people feel so much better. I tell everyone about how I was treated, but I also tell everyone about that one amazing midwife who gave me confidence and told me I shouldn't have had that happen to me.

I write this in hopes someone will read it and see how even though something bad can happen, it only takes one person to change your outlook on it.
