"Fantastic care given by all that I met"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Came in after a mountain bike accident split my knee to the bone and damaged tendons. A&E staff were all very friendly and explained in detail what they were doing and why.

I was asked if it was ok for a student to observe the clean out that i received under local anaethetic which i was clad that I could help them with.

When I moved to the ward the consultants explained the damage I had done and how they would help me. and the nurses did everything to make sure I was as comfortable as possible.

As a curious person I asked lots of questions about what was happening and everyone could talk to keep me at ease 10/10 worth losing my bike race for!

Thanks for the post and the comments about your care - I was really pleased to hear all the positives and I'm sure the staff will as well. It certainly sounds like a nasty injury to me, but good to know that everyone was happy to answers your questions and explain the damage.

I hope you're making a good recovery and that you'll soon be back out on the bike again.

Our mountain biking Chief Executive, Gavin Boyle would definitely sympathise with your predicament! With best wishes Sarah Turner-Saint, Head of Communications
