"Dad's care"

Our dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015 and started chemotherapy in August 2015.

After just one session he sadly contracted Neutrapenasepsis and had to be rushed to hospital by ambulance. He was transferred to Ward 9 and then Ward 7 where he stayed for about 8 days.

The care he received was second to none and as a family we were truly grateful that he made a pretty swift recovery and was able to recommence chemo.

He has been seeing the oncologist and visiting the Chemo Ward regularly for treatment.

All of the staff on that ward are incredibly special and dedicated people.

The kindness and empathy shown is amazing.

Unfortunately, Dad had to be rushed back to A&E on Christmas Eve and was admitted - again to Ward 7 - with septicaemia and a suspected chest infection.

This time his stay was for just 4 days - much to his relief.

There have been a few "blips" along the way but overall the standard of care and the dignity with which he has been treated has been brilliant.

Thank you to all - and especially those on the Chemo Ward.
