I attended Worcester royal on Christmas Eve to have my baby. After a very traumatic 18 hours after arriving I had to have a c section. The anethisist & theatre staff were amazing and a credit to the hospital. The care I received in the post natal award was also amazing but the care from the midwife looking after me during delivery let it all down. They didn't talk much to us from when they walked in at 8 am and they made it quite clear they didn't want to be there. They ruined the whole experience for my mum also. After my partner and I had seen our baby and I was being stitched back up I asked for my mum to come down and for my baby to be passed to her. She was so excited when my partner handed our baby over but her world came crashing down when the midwife stormed in, said to her in a very rude manner "Sit down with him" and "I don't even know why you're having a cuddle I like my mums to be the first" and walked away and huffed. It was my birth. My baby. My choice. I wanted my mum to be the next one to hold him after my partner as I was still in theatre. So thanks to the midwife who ruined and special moment between my mum and her grandson and made a magical Christmas eve pretty rubbish....
"one midwife ruined it..."
