Wife awoke 27/12/15 unable to see out of left eye. Rang 111 who told us to go to Emergency Eye Clinic asap. It was the Christmas holiday period. Chose St Thomas's as had previous excellent response with eye condition. Had to book in at A &E then sent to Urgent Care Centre where eyes specialist was called. Was seen after approx 90 minute wait and the doctor spent spent about 2hours doing various tests and treating my wife for glaucoma to reduce the eye pressure. Gave us various drops and told us to return early the following morning for urgent eye laser surgery. Returned following morning and same doctor saw us with the eye laser specialist. As it was the Monday bank holiday security were called to open up the area where the laser equipment is in order they could get access to perform the surgery. This was done and after many more eye drops and tests laser surgery was performed .to both eyes. It was repeated after further examination showed further work still necessary. My wife had 2 specialists for most of this bank holiday devoting their time to get the correct result. We returned again on 31/12/15 New Years Eve for further 7 hours tests and surgery leaving at 3:45 as building being closed for firework celebrations were to happen adjacent that night for the New Year. Our thanks go to all staff but particularly the two doctors for their thoroughness and dedication which will hopefully maintain my wife's sight due to their actions. Thank you. Brian
