I had to visit A & E at about 4.30pm yesterday 4th Jan 2016, having severe chest pains.
After a short wait was seen by a triage nurse.
Another wait perhaps half an hour was seen by another nurse for blood tests. Then a wait to have an ECG.
Since arrival the department was extremely busy and was getting busier by the minute.
I was eventually seen by a very pleasant Dr. who went through my case with me explaining what they thought was the problem but needed further tests including x-rays.
By this time the department had a major incident arrive. I had further tests then a long wait to see Dr. Once my blood pressure was taken again I was then prescribed medication and being advised of my condition was finally discharged at about 11.15pm. The fact that you are not the only person who has a health problem you must be a patient patient and accept the situation. All in all a very efficient department and well run from my point of view.
All staff that attended me were at all times concerned and considerate, very professional all the time working under relentless pressure and as for me, they were one hundred percent!
Furthermore when we attend various other departments at BTUH my family have always had positive consultations, whether Lupus clinic, Neurology, anti coag clinic or Cardiac dept and ENT departments as with A & E all alike, my wife and myself give BTHU 100 percent mark.Lastly I was seen by 2 Dr's both attentive and reassuring all part of a fine team!
