"A big thankyou to all staff regarding my care..."

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

From my husband ringing 999 I cannot fault the care and treatment I received from every member of staff who was involved with me. I suffered an anaphylaxis to a tablet prescribed by my Dr. to help control symptoms of a sliding hiatus hernia. Within 5 minutes of taking the capsule it began and my husband was unable to move me because I was in and out of consciousness, I was burning hot and swollen and shaking uncontrollably so he had no choice but to ring for an ambulance. Within minutes the paramedics were knocking at the door and administered care on the spot before taking me to NHS Cramlington A & E .

I cannot praise the staff enough for the treatment and care they provided me with. I ended up in a life threatening condition and without them may not have survived to tell the tale.

I consider my self very lucky and would like to thank the staff who dealt with me both in

A & E and overnight on the ward.

The staff were very busy that day and the ward was very busy during the night but the staff were still cheerful very kind and always there to help, my treatment was second to none.

I know the NHS sometimes gets bad press but in my opinion these men and women are worth their weight in gold and should be supported 100%. The Dr's, Jnr Dr's, Consultants,

Nurses, porters and cleaners were all wonderful. The food was good too, so compliments to the Kitchen staff also.

My experience although frightening was made so much easier by the professionalism of the staff within this hospital and I will never forget the kind, caring and compassionate care the staff gave me. Thank you so much it was really appreciated.

Dear Carol

I am very pleased to hear that you have received the kind of superb care that we would expect.

Thank you for your lovely comments about all our staff, we know how incredibly hard they work and everyone has a very important role to play. I will ensure your words of appreciation are passed on, the staff will be delighted to receive them.

I hope that you are now feeling much better and are recovering well at home.

Kind regards

Claire Riley, director of communication and corporate affairs
