"Thoroughly disappointed"

My mother was today referred to the eye clinic as a matter of urgency.

I was telephoned by the nurse on call who informed me that an MRI would be required.

An appt was made to see the ophthalmology consultant who sent 86 yr old mother to A&E to await said mri.

6 hrs later, no further fwd, it wld appear that as she had an mri, again after a 7 hr wait, only ten days previously and another one wld not be given, regardless of the fact that this had supposedly been requested by the ophthalmology consultant. I believe it is now time to report this matter to the GMC as I firmly believe there is something intrinsically wrong with a system where an elderly person undergoes 7/8 hrs of waiting in A&E with no result to show for it.

Obviously the ophthalmologist felt that there was a problem with my mothers eyes.

I am appalled at this lacklustre service.
