A doctor from Glasgow royal infirmary performed an operation to fix my rotator cuff, he was armed with mri scan which read a 7mm by 4mm rotator cuff tear.
I never saw him again after he performed the operation.
My phisio told me my rotator cuff was indeed intact and no surgery was required. The phisio made me an appointment with the doctor who performed the surgery. After 4 month waiting for the appointment I was sent to another doctor. When I explained to him I was still in considerable pain, he got involved and did the rotator cuff test and took some xrays. After viewing xrays, he commented that he thought his colleague had made a terrible mistake and sent me for a further mri scan.
After a further 4 month wait to see a new surgeon, I had sent for my medical records before I was due for the appointment so I knew the 2nd Mri scan showed I still had rotator cuff tears, but the surgeon tried to convince me that the 2nd mri scan was also unreliable that indeed my cuff was intact.
After 3rd opinion it was confirmed that indeed the 2 mri scans were 100% accurate, but it was too late to fix the tears now as arthritis had set in, and I'm now waiting on a shoulder transplant.
