During December I first came to the A5 ward for a suspected miscarriage, which sadly turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy.
It was all very sudden (to me), I came in for a blood test to (hopefully) show reduced hormone levels, however they hadn't dropped and it ended up in my being diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy and I was then admitted immediately for surgery.
The consultants during the ultrasounds were great, offering an explanation for what they were looking for and also compassion.
From here on, I was put in a ward for a very short time before moving to the operating theatre.
The surgeons were kind, and explained everything to me putting me at ease (as much as they could).
Whilst they were operating on me, the nurses on ward A5/A6 explained everything to my husband putting him at ease.
After the operation the recovery nurse sat with me before I went back to the ward and the nurse explained everything that had taken place and that it had all gone to plan (which was reassuring).
I was fortunate that everything went to plan and was on my way home that same day after surgery, but the whole time whilst I was on the ward all the staff were super helpful, attentive even though it was clear they were very busy.
I am now at home recovering but know that I was in safe hands when I was in QA.
"An unexpected stay at QA!"
