"Treatment following a heart attack - 18-12-15"

Having suffered acute chest pain on walk in Shaftesbury, went to Westminster Memorial Hospital, Walk In Casualty.

An ambulance was called.

It arrived in minutes and I was taken to Salisbury Hospital.

I was evaluated within minutes, blood test taken which showed raised Troponins.

Had an episode whilst still in casualty.

The staff were marvellous treating the problem and reassuring at the same time.

There was a positive attitude.

Within 3 hours of being admitted I was transferred to a Medical Ward and the next day I was transferred to the Coronary Care Unit once a bed was free.

From first admittance until I was discharged 4 days later all aspects of my care was fantastic.

The staff were positive and upbeat, from the cleaners, porters, nursing staff and doctors.

Two doctors from casualty, who were admitting new patients and who had looked after me in initially went out of their way to come across to see how I was.

I was amazed at the quality and variety of the food offered during my stay, which was a far cry from the old days.

It was also good to see patient who had complex health issues being helped to make sure he was able to eat his food.

On the following Tuesday I had an angioplasty and two stents were inserted in a blocked artery.

I was able to leave the unit at the end of the day.

There are too many negative stories about our precious health service. I felt totally reassured about my condition and treatment by the time I left hospital.

Now home, I am confident in the future and am already well on the way to recovery.
