I want to express my thanks and gratitude for the care and kindness received from the staff I interacted with at this department.
I was highly anxious about the whole procedure having had an endoscopy before.
the Nurse who did the pre-assessment was so thorough in explaining the process, understood my extreme nerves and advised me accordingly how to cope.
This was also reiterated and I was given the most attentive reassurance, talked through the process as it was happening by the 2 Nurses present and the warm approachable doctor who conducted the procedure. I was given time before to have an anxiety wobble and after when I had dramatic posttraumatic euphoria that I had done it and it was over!
There was a waiting room of patients but I was never rushed (even though it was New Years Eve), given time to recover and talk prior/after.
These members of staff are an absolute credit to the NHS.
For any other patients nervous about an endoscopy, yes its not nice but you will be given ultimate attention and care so 5 minutes is nothing for an investigation to resolve issues.
