"Concerns about AMU/AMAC Barnsley"

About: Barnsley Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My husband was a patient recently at AMU/AMAC at barnley hospital and I have to say a few things were very concerning.

After being discharged for 2 hours home, we rung AMU again as his condition had worsened to be told that due to being discharged we would have to go back through AE. I can understand if it had been 24 hours later but 2 hours? ?

On our second visit to AMAC it wasnt very positive.

There seemed to be little organisation in the unit. Also I do not feel that it is a professional image to be sat at the nurse station eating cream buns infront of patients in a clinical area. I dont begrudge anyone needing a break but maybe the staff room may have been better.

My main issue though was both nurse's doing invavsive procedures such as taking bloods and removing cannulas with no gloves on ( this was witnessed twice).

I am hoping that we stay in good helath to not need to come back.

Could be a lot better.
