"Immediate laser treatment for torn retina on..."

Arriving at the A&E department of Sunderland Eye Infirmary in the early evening of New Year's Eve 2015/16 I was welcomed and treated, fast, with great professionalism (and a bowl of free holiday sweets).

I was deeply impressed at the care and evident accuracy of the diagnosis and the immediate high technology laser 'stop welding' of my torn retina.

Later as I waited for a taxi to take me home the Porter on duty kept an eye out for it on their camera system so I did not have to freeze outside.

All this amounted to considerate,, humane and medically highly effective treatment for body and soul which may well, very significantly, have saved my sight since I had no idea when I arrived what was wrong.
