"Equipment for weighing and blood pressure faulty"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

My husband attended the Stroke Ambulatory Clinic this morning.

His blood pressure was taken and he was told that he should be on the floor in a state of collapse with the low reading.

His blood pressure was taken again and the same reading showed.

The nurse then disappeared and came back with a different machine and the reading was normal.

Time to invest in new equipment.

How can a hospital use faulty diagnostic apparatus?

I wish that was my only complaint.

On being weighed he was told he had lost weight and was 10 stone 9 pounds

After a rather worrying trip home he weighed himself on our brand new electronic scales with marry up completely with our GP's scales and he was in fact two stone heavier.

This is just not good enough.

Thank you for taking the trouble to contact us regarding your experience at the QEQM Hospital. I am so sorry to hear of your poor experience. I will ensure that the Matron for this area reviews all of the equipment and also check that staff are aware of their responsibilities when caring for their patients. Once again, please accept my apologies for your experience with us.

Sally
