"Lack of out of hours service or suitable advice"

About: Samuel Johnson Community Hospital

Yesterday I came down with a UTI complete with temperature dizziness etc. I called the Doctors and was advised to ring 111 which I did many times without getting through to anyone. All I wanted was to be able to take a urine sample and get a prescription.

No Cannock Hospital open.

I called the Samuel Johnson Hospital and spoke politely to the switchboard operator explaining what I needed. I was advised to ring my Doctors and the 111 service. I explained my need and was treated to tirade or Didn't I know that it was a Bank Holiday and that it wasn't an emergency. I simply thanked the operator for their understanding and hung up. Perhaps it is better to wait until I have to go to hospital as an inpatient.

So much for out of hours service on the NHS
