What I liked
The care I was given in ICU was excellent. At all times I was treated with respect. As a nurse myself it was awesome to watch fellow professionals at work. Each individuals role was greatly appreciated and the teamwork was second to none. Once taken off the ventilator I was at all times kept informed of my condition and the proposed treatments(apart from the occasional white lie which I know was intended to protect me). At all times I was made aware of the roles of all staff involved in my care and each one treated me with dignity and respect.
I was far from home with little contact with my nearest and dearest, the staff ensured my family were kept fully informed and even went the extra mile to make arrangements for me to speak to them over the phone and also obtained contact numbers to assist my family to visit.
What could be improved
Better communication between my consultant at the Spire Regency Hospital, the surgical team and the dietitian would have ensured a better nutritional intake during my time with you. I survived on orange squash for most of my stay as noone was prepared to document that I could commence the official liquid diet.
Anything else?
I will always be grateful to the doctor and the dedicated team of professionals who helped me to survive my recent trauma. I could not have asked for better care. Although I would like to add a comment to the nightstaff on my last night, my illness did not render me hard of hearing!!
