It is Christmas Eve, and I feel I must write comments to you as it is now just six weeks on from surgery and triple bypass. My bypass operation carried out Tuesday 10th November, ironically my wedding anniversary, but I could not have wished for a better anniversary. I wish to offer you all at Glenfield a huge THANK YOU, as I have told family, friends, and others since, it has been care and compassion 'second to none' for which I am truly grateful. All staff, whether it be in the initial clinics visits, heart ward staff, wards 31, ITU etc. absolutely brilliant. Although as stated previously it is now some six weeks on, I feel quite sore on chest, shoulder areas of my body, - not pain - just discomfort as everything is healing back together. I fully appreciate the scale of the surgery I have gone through and know it will take a lot of time to get fully right, my aim being Easter, as my wife and I do a lot of caravanning, and we have a break booked to the New Forest to meet up with my daughter, her husband and our grand-daughter, so we can take the little one to Peppa Pig World. I have a goal to aim at. My body is doing nothing that I had not read about in the many pamphlets, booklets etc I had looked at prior to my surgery. It will take time and I am in turn taking my time, slowly but surely I will get there. Just yesterday I was at clinic for the six week check up, and had chest X-ray, ECG, blood pressure check etc., and all well, so Doctor has now discharged me, back to my local Health Centre in Ashby de la Zouch, and Burton on Trent hospital consultant. It gave me much pleasure to send a thank you card to staff on ward 31 after my discharge, and likewise, I tell people how good and how well I have been looked after. In early January, I am already booked in to start my cardiac rehab at Burton, and have received consultant appointment for the week immediately after the New Year, so further praise must go to Queens Hospital, Burton for their attention and speed. We consider ourselves very fortunate up this part of the County, as we virtually have a 'choice' as to whether we go to Leicester hospitals or to Burton. My only one, and small gripe with Glenfield is the parking, not so much the recently published costs, but why you have to pay when you arrive, rather than on leaving - if attending a clinic like we have done, how do you know if you're going to be there for hour, couple of hours or three etc. and if waiting to see the Doctors you cannot just walk out to the machine to put extra money in. Far better if you have a paying ticket machine that you use at the end of a visit surely - anyway that is just a small comment to pass to you. In the meantime I wish to again convey my huge grateful thanks, and wish you all a Very Happy Christmas. Thank you Glenfield.
