"Excellent Treatment and Care"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

My 84 year old mother was admitted to the hospital having suffered a severe stroke. She received excellent treatment in the Emergency Department before being transferred to a bed in the Stroke Unit. Mum was given every possible form of treatment and therapy, but sadly to no avail and she did not make any significant recovery.

During many weeks at the hospital Mum was cared for and nursed in a very professional but caring way. She was kept comfortable, clean and free from pressure sores despite being almost bed-ridden.

When the time came for her to be transferred to a nursing home I was involved and my requests on behalf of Mum were listened to carefully and taken note of. The discharge team arranged for Mum to go to our preferred nursing home.

Everything about Mum's treatment, from her initial admission to eventual discharge was something that the NNUH can be proud of, and Mum and I are very grateful.

We are pleased to hear that your mother's care was professional and that she was made comfortable during her stay in hospital. There must have been difficult decisions to make at this time and it is good to know that you were listened to and closely involved in planning your mother's on-going care.
