Recent visits to Wishaw - signs are very confusing and make an already difficult experience even more stressful. For example leaving ward there is no sign directing to way out and as all corridors look the same you can end up with much longer walk than needed.

When entering hospital again no clear signs how to get to wards and would be much more helpful to have large board saying what floor/ wing each department or ward is on.

Signs are even more difficult for people with dementia and not dementia friendly AT ALL.

I appreciate what you say stupot, without doubt it can add to the stress of the experience when you can't find your way around a strange environment.

Interestingly, the East Kilbride Public Partnership Forum (PPF) members carried out some work regarding signage within Hairmyres hospital and that resulted in improvements. Perhaps this is another area where the PPF members could be involved to help improve matters?

Dear stupot,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch about the signage in the hospital. NHS Lanarkshire has developed colourful, pictorial signage for use throughout hospital wards and departments which you may have seen on doors to bedrooms, toilets and bathrooms in the wards.

We welcome your feedback about the signs in the public areas and we will discuss this at the next Wishaw Public Partnership Forum. We'll then invite members to help us review the directional and wayfinding signs around the hospital to see what improvements we can make.

Dear stupot

Wishaw General has installed new exterior signage at the rear of the main building directing patients/visitors into the hospital. Internally we continue to trial new signage on level 0 of the hospital directing patients/visitors to all wards and departments.
