"Car parking charge"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Having arrived 15 minutes before an appointment, in theory we should have been able to pay £1.40 to park. Unfortunately the appointment was 90 minutes late which triggered a charge of £3.40. Why should I be responsable for the excess charge, this is grossly unfair.

Dear Anonymous

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent visit to Pilgrim Hospital.

I can only apologise that your outpatient appointment was delayed and, as a result, your stay at the hospital extended beyond the 1 hour parking period.

The staff in the outpatient department have the ability to validate car parking tickets for those patients who are exempt from charges:

-Oncology patients receiving regular treatment

-Collection of prescriptions and hearing aid batteries

-Parents attending to support child needs in the

-Special Care Baby Unit

-Clergy visiting parishioners

-Following bereavement

-Adults accompanying children for emergency treatment

Staff in the department can also validate car parking tickets for patients where we have severely inconvenienced them as in your case. I have spoken to the Outpatient Matron and she has apologised that this did not happen for you. She will be reminding staff about validating tickets where a severe delay has been caused by us.
